Winter heating check for Kingston upon Thames & SW London homes

Is your boiler ready for winter?

Answer these ten questions the way a Gas Safe engineer would ask them. Anything you answer “no” to is worth sorting before the first cold week — when our Kingston upon Thames, KT1, KT2 and TW9 diary books out a fortnight ahead.

1.Has your boiler been serviced in the last 12 months?

2.Does the boiler hold its pressure without weekly topping up?

3.Do all radiators heat evenly, top and bottom?

4.Is the external condensate pipe insulated and correctly routed?

5.Is your hot water reaching full temperature quickly?

6.Is the boiler quiet — no banging, rumbling or kettling?

7.Does the thermostat and timer control the heating as it should?

8.Is a magnetic system filter fitted and inhibitor dosed?

9.Is your boiler under 12 years old?

10.Landlord? Is your gas safety certificate (CP12) in date?

Answer the questions above to see your winter readiness result.

Winter boiler check FAQs

When should I get my boiler ready for winter?

Late August to October. From the first cold week our diary fills one to two weeks ahead because emergency no-heat calls take priority.

What does a pre-winter boiler check include?

A full annual service plus a heating run under load, radiator-by-radiator checks, control testing and condensate frost protection.

Do you cover Kingston upon Thames and the rest of South West London?

Yes — Kingston upon Thames (KT1, KT2, TW9) is our priority area, and we also cover Richmond, Wimbledon, Twickenham, Surbiton, Fulham and the wider South West London area.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your boiler, its condition and access, so we give you a price before booking rather than a figure that changes on the day.
