These terms apply whenever you book a plumbing, heating, or bathroom installation service with Maxfix Plumbing and Heating, whether arranged by phone, message, email, or through our website. Please read them alongside any written quote we provide, as the specific quote takes priority where the two differ.
1. Quotes and pricing
Where we've given you a fixed price, that's what you'll pay for the work described, unless the scope changes once we're on site (for example, we find a second fault once we start the job) — if that happens, we'll always explain the extra cost and get your agreement before doing any additional work. Emergency callout jobs may be priced on a call-out-plus-hourly basis where a fixed price isn't practical to give in advance; we'll always confirm this with you before starting.
2. Booking and cancellation
[cancellation policy — e.g. free cancellation up to X hours before an appointment; any cancellation fee for late cancellation or no-shows]. If you need to change or cancel an appointment, contact us as early as possible on 020 3488 0912.
3. Access and safety
You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the areas of the property where work is needed. If access to the property, stopcock, gas meter, or relevant area isn't possible on arrival, a call-out or return-visit charge may apply — we'll always tell you this in advance rather than surprise you with it afterwards.
4. Payment
Payment is due [on completion / on invoice, within X days]. We accept [cash, card, bank transfer]. Where a deposit is required for larger jobs such as bathroom installations or boiler replacements, this will be agreed and confirmed in writing before work starts.
5. Guarantees
[guarantee terms — e.g. all labour guaranteed for X months/years from the date of completion]. Parts and appliances (such as boilers) carry the manufacturer's own warranty, details of which we'll provide at the time of installation. Our guarantee doesn't cover faults caused by misuse, unrelated pre-existing issues, or work carried out by someone else after we've completed the job.
6. Gas Safe and compliance work
All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers [Gas Safe registration number], in line with current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations. Where a Gas Safety Certificate (CP12) is issued, it reflects the condition of the appliances checked at the time of the inspection.
6a. Hours of operation
We're open 24 hours a day, every day, including weekends and bank holidays.
7. Liability
We carry public liability insurance [insurer and cover level, e.g. £2 million/£5 million]. We're not liable for pre-existing faults, issues arising from work by other tradespeople, or damage caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
8. Complaints
If you're not happy with the work carried out, please contact us as soon as possible on 020 3488 0912 or [email address] so we can put things right. We aim to resolve any issue promptly and fairly.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
