Smart Thermostats: Which One Actually Suits Your Home

Nest, Hive, Tado, Honeywell — there's no single "best" one. What actually matters is your boiler, your household, and proper setup.

Most heating waste isn't a bad boiler, it's a well-working boiler heating an empty house at full temperature because the schedule was set once and never touched again. A properly configured smart thermostat is one of the cheapest meaningful upgrades available.

Single zone or smart radiator valves?

In a flat or small terrace, one smart thermostat is usually enough. In a larger home, smart radiator valves let you keep bedrooms cool and living space warm — genuinely useful where a single hallway thermostat has been misreading the whole house for years.

Setup matters more than brand

We install Nest, Hive, Tado and Honeywell Home — there's no universally "best" one; the right choice depends on your boiler's controls, whether you have a hot water cylinder, and how many zones you want. Half the smart thermostats we come across are wired in and left on default settings. Proper commissioning — correct flow temperature, weather compensation where supported, balanced radiators, realistic schedules — is what actually delivers the savings.
