Bathroom Renovation Cost in 2026: A Real UK Price Guide

Real current UK price bands for a bathroom renovation — budget, mid-range and premium — plus what actually drives the cost up.

Bathroom renovation is one of the most-quoted jobs we do, and prices vary more than people expect depending on scope. Here are realistic, current UK price bands.

Budget/basic — around £4,000

A straightforward refresh with a mid-range suite, standard tiling and no structural changes. Typically 6-12 working days.

Mid-range — £5,500 to £8,000 (average around £7,000)

The most common band we fit — quality porcelain tiling, a walk-in shower or good bath, a decent vanity unit, proper extraction. Typically 7-15 working days.

Premium — £14,000+

Bespoke joinery, natural stone or premium porcelain, underfloor heating, smart fittings, and a dedicated project manager throughout. Typically 9-16 working days.

What actually drives the price up

Moving plumbing (repositioning a soil stack or bath wall costs more than keeping the layout), tile size and material, brassware finish, glass thickness, and whether underfloor heating's included. Keeping the existing plumbing locations is the single biggest cost-saver available if budget's tight.

The part that never gets photographed but matters most

Proper waterproofing (tanking) behind tiles and under the floor — the difference between a bathroom that lasts fifteen years and one that leaks into the ceiling below in three. It's not optional on any job we quote.
